Accomplishments 1998

  • Michael was awarded the RIO BIG SCHOLARSHIP which meant he would enjoy a paid season of auto racing in the Barber Dodge Pro series valued at USD$175,000.
  • Captured the Skip Barber Racing Challenge Championship with an impressive 13 wins out of 14 races.
  • Twenty karters from across North America were selected to compete against each other in identically prepared karts for a chance to go to the ELF Campus Shoot-out in Le Mans, France. Michael was one of eight finalists picked for the final in France. He won by a full second over the second place finisher, capturing the ELF series scholarship.
  • After capturing the Constructors Cup Championship in Formula C and finishing 6th in the World Championships, Michael was listed the Number 1 shifter driver in North America by Shifter Kart Magazine.
